AiThaoHow it works
The timer belongs to the chat, not to one person: whoever sets it sets it for both sides, and both see that it is on. You can choose any time from one minute to one week. Each new message then carries its own deadline; when it passes, the message is deleted from the server and from the copy kept on each phone.
Messages sent before you turned the timer on are not affected. Turning it off stops the timer for new messages.
What it does not do
- It cannot stop the other person from copying, forwarding or photographing a message before it disappears.
- A file already saved outside AiThao stays where it was saved.
- It is not a substitute for deleting a message for everyone when something was sent by mistake.
When to use it
For arrangements that stop mattering once they are done, for sensitive details you do not want lying in a chat, or simply to keep a conversation light. Combine it with app lock for chats you want to keep private on your own phone too.

Does the other person see that disappearing messages are on?
Yes. The timer is shared by the chat, so both of you see it.
Are disappearing messages encrypted?
Yes, like every chat message: they are end-to-end encrypted, and the timer decides when they are destroyed.
