A privacy checklist

AiThao is private by default in the ways that are listed in the Security Center. These are the choices left to you, in the order most people will find useful.

Try the demo Demo languages

On your phone

  • Turn on app lock so AiThao opens only with Face ID or your passcode.
  • Choose what notifications show, so a message preview is not visible on a locked screen if you do not want it to be.

In your chats

  • Compare the safety number with people you talk to about sensitive things.
  • Turn on disappearing messages in chats that do not need a history.
  • Delete a message for everyone, not only for yourself, when it should not stay on the other side.

Who can see you

  • Choose who sees your profile: everyone, your contacts or nobody.
  • Hide your online status if you prefer; hidden looks exactly like offline.
  • Block anyone you no longer want to hear from.

Translation and backup

  • If a conversation is sensitive and you share a language, turn cloud translation off: messages then never leave the end-to-end encrypted path.
  • Turn on chat backup and keep the recovery key safe, or decide deliberately not to keep one.

When you leave

Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and what belongs only to it. If you stop using AiThao without deleting it, the account is deleted after the period you set, six months by default.

Questions

What is the single most useful step?

For most people, app lock: it protects your chats if someone else picks up your phone.

Does turning translation off change encryption?

Yes, in a sense: with it off, message text is never sent to a translation service, so it stays end-to-end encrypted the whole way.
