AiThaoThe path of a short phrase in the web demo
Your browser asks for access to the microphone. After you record, the phrase goes to a translation service, which recognises the speech and sends back the translation. The web demo does not create an account or send a message to anyone.
To translate it, the audio or its text may be sent to a third-party AI provider. Cloud translation is not something that happens entirely on your phone. AiThao itself does not keep the demo recording.
Before you record
- Do not say passwords, bank details or anything else in the demo that you would not send for cloud processing.
- Check the languages you have chosen and the microphone permission.
- For exact retention periods and what data is shared, read the current privacy policy.
If you do not need translation
Do not switch it on just to test a sensitive phrase. Ordinary chats and calls are handled differently; this guide is about translating audio. For questions about your data, use the contact given in the privacy policy.

Does “cloud” mean the recording is kept forever?
No, that does not follow from cloud processing. The specific retention periods and what providers do are set out in the current privacy policy.
Does voice translation need camera access?
Recording a voice needs the microphone. Other permissions belong to other features of the app.
