What this is
AiThao is a private one-to-one messenger with translation built in, for personal use. Using it means agreeing to what is written here and to the Privacy Policy, which describes what the service does with your data. AiThao is operated by an individual based in Vietnam — the operator of AiThao ("we", "us"), not a company. Write to support@aithao.com with anything about these terms.
Who may use it
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the age of digital consent where you live is higher. If you are under the age of majority, you may use AiThao only with the agreement of a parent or guardian.
Your account
An account needs no phone number or email. Linking Apple or Google, an email address or a recovery code is optional and exists so you can get back in on another phone. You are responsible for the device you are signed in on; Settings shows every session and lets you revoke one or all of them. Keep your recovery code — without one of these methods, losing the phone loses the account.
How it may be used
Do not use AiThao to break the law, to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, to send material that sexually exploits children, to send spam, or to distribute malware. Do not try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or work around the service's limits. An account used that way may be suspended or terminated.
Reporting, blocking and moderation
Conversations are private and one-to-one; nothing you send is published or shown to anyone but the person you sent it to. You can block a contact and report one from their profile, which sends us the report and stops further contact. We review reports and may suspend or terminate an account that breaks the rules above. We do not read conversations except as needed to act on a report or to comply with the law.
Translation
Translation is done by third-party providers, as the Privacy Policy explains. Machine translation is imperfect: it can be wrong, and it can be wrong in ways that matter. The original text or recording is always kept alongside the translation and can always be seen or heard, precisely so a translation can be checked. Do not rely on it for medical, legal or financial decisions.
Free minutes, packs and subscriptions
Ordinary chats and calls are free. Translated calls and translated voice messages use minutes. Every account gets an allowance of free translation minutes, which renews each month. The allowance is set by us and can change; the app always shows what is left and what the current allowance is.
Beyond that, minutes can be bought in two ways, both through the Apple App Store and under Apple's terms:
- Minute packs — a one-time purchase of a fixed number of minutes. They do not renew and do not expire while your account exists.
- Monthly subscriptions (AiThao Plus, AiThao Pro) — each gives a monthly allowance of translation minutes. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the current period runs to its end.
Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and the app shows how many minutes remain. Unused minutes are not refundable in cash and have no value outside AiThao. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, under Apple's refund policy; we can look up a purchase but cannot reverse one. If a purchase fails to credit your balance, write to support@aithao.com and we will fix it.
Your content
What you write, say and send stays yours. You grant us permission to store and transmit it, and to send the parts being translated to our translation providers, only so the service can deliver and translate it — not to publish it, show it to anyone else, or use it for anything else. We do not use your content to train models.
Availability, and no warranty
AiThao is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, to the extent the law allows. It runs on one server; it can be down, and messages can be delayed or lost. It is not an emergency service and cannot be used to call emergency numbers. Chats are end-to-end encrypted, except for what is sent for translation — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that means.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, for lost profits or data, or for anything arising from a translation being wrong, a message being delayed or lost, or the service being unavailable. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion is irreversible and erases what is described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why unless the law prevents it.
Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the AiThao service shall be resolved by the competent courts of Vietnam in accordance with applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights or protections that apply to you under the laws of your country or place of residence.
Changes
These terms may change as the app does. The date at the top says when they last did, and we will tell you in the app about a change that matters.
